Sumire Sōma (相麻 菫 Sōma Sumire) is a classmate of Kei Asai who was a victim during a Reset. Her ability is precognition; When she talk to people she can see the memories and emotions of these people. The ability is not bound by time, so Soma can see the memories that the person will have in the future. The ability is strong enough that she starts to lose her sense of self after she discovers her ability. The future that she sees is not absolute either as they can change depending on external influences on the individual. Her suicide early in the series becomes the trigger that sets into motion the events of the series.

Later she returns as the successor to "The Witch", because of her ability to see the future. Being revived by Kei, Misora, Youka and Yousuke, with the help of skill of Hiroyuki Sasano.

Appearance

She is skinny, low, has short brown hair, and has brown eyes.

Personality

Soma is extremely intelligent and insightful possibly due to her precognition ability.

Plot

Versions

There are 3 versions of Soma that appear in the series thanks to Hiroyuki Sasano's ability. Each version(beside the original) regards herself as not the "original Soma", even though all facts point otherwise.

1. The original Soma dies in episode 2 by accident(though it was probably a suicide).
2. The Soma that was extracted from a photo made by Hiroyuki Sasano in episode 10. This version is still alive until the end of the show.
3. The Soma that appear in Hiroyuki Sasano's photo. Kei uses her power with the help of Yousuke's ability, in order to stop Masamune's plan.

Etymology

• The name Sumire means "violet" (菫).
• Sumire's surname Sōma means "phase, aspect, countenance" (相) (sō) and "hemp, flax" (麻) (ma).
• The origin of her name may be SOMA, which means body, one of the three elements that make up a human being in Gnosticism.
